MT Parents of Youth Bowlers and Big Sky Tour Bowlers
I want to take this opportunity to say thank you for participating in this amazing sport. As a new school year approaches, your local youth leagues are gearing up for a new season. Please reach out to your local bowling center or association and find out when the season starts. As a Director on the MTUSBC Board and the league advisor to the Big Sky Tour, a youth-run travel league, I want to inform you of all the upcoming events this year. The Big Sky Tour Board of Directors would also like to invite all youth bowlers to come participate in the Big Sky Tour. It is a scratch league divided into 3 divisions: a U12 Minion Division, a U15 Jr Division, and a U20 Major Division. We travel to 9 different centers this year between Sept-Mar. We currently have bowlers ages 8 to 19, spanning averages of 89 to 196. If you are unsure or want more information, talk to any of the youth currently in the league or have your youth come bowl one and experience it for themselves. If you have any questions about the Big Sky Tour or any other events, please call Terri at her contact information listed below. This is going to be an amazing season so please spread the word so we can open up these opportunities to more youth bowlers in our state. Last year we gave out $10,920 in scholarships to over 50 different athletes in the Big Sky Tour.

2022 Montana USBC Senior State Tournament
This is a state tournament for men and women, who are 50 years old and up. There are two divisions – Mixed and Women, and 6 age classifications. Women may enter either the Mixed division or the Women’s division, but not both. The age classifications start with E (age 50-54) and ascend in 5-year increments until the Super Senior group (age 75 +). All divisions are handicapped based on a bowler’s Montana 5-year Tournament Average (21 game minimum) or their 2021-22 year-end final average (21 game min.) if they have no valid Montana tournament average. All entrants bowl 6 games in two 3-game blocks.
Tournament will be held at Recreation Lanes in Miles City, Montana, starting Friday, Sept. 30 and ending on Sunday, October 16 (3 weekends). There are a total of 7 shifts each weekend – one on Fridays @ 6 pm, four on Saturdays @ 10 am, 12:30 pm, 3 pm and 5:30 pm, and two on Sundays @ 10 am and 12:30 pm. Lanes will be stripped and oiled prior to every shift. Entry fee is $65.
In addition to a prize fund per division, each age classification winner will receive a paid entry and shirt to the 2023 Senior National Championships at a date and location yet to be determined.
Please enter online at this same website. When doing so, you can select your date(s) and shift times in real time. Entry fees can be paid via credit card, in which there is no upcharge, or by electronic check (ACH), which also has no upcharge. Or a person can call Lori Reed, the tournament director, at (406) 874-9918 to reserve spots and pay. But the PREFERRED method of entering by far is ONLINE.
Please notice two attachments to this listing. One is the Entry Form, which also has all of the rules on the back page. Two, the Montana Tournament Average list.
