The 2013 International Family Tournament will be held in Columbus, Ohio July 25-28, 2013, and will be conducted in conjunction with the combined U.S. Opens for both men and women. The 2013 west regional final will be held at Westside Lanes (Missoula) on Feb. 9-10, and the east regional final will be held at Town & Country Lanes in Billings on Jan. 26-27. The state finals will be held at Sleeping Giant Lanes in Helena on March 23-24.
The universal state Youth Scholarship application has a March 1st deadline. Several thousands of dollars are available for high school seniors in 2013. This year, as in 2012, the Montana Bowling Proprietors Association will be processing their own scholarship application. It is for high school seniors who bowl league in BPAA member centers. If unsure, check the list of bowling centers on a separate tab on this site. The proprietor application is located in two places on this site - the Youth tab and the Montana USBC tab. The proprietors now have a total of 4 scholarships each worth $500.00 - two for boys and two for girls. The Montana USBC has three scholarships worth as much as $1,000 each plus others. This application can be downloaded from this site by clicking on the Youth tab and scrolling to where it is shown.
The 2013 Open State tournament will be held in Butte at Star Lanes. Every event including Doubles & Singles and Team will be held there, as King Pin Lanes has recently downsized and is no longer eligible to host this event. For the 3rd consecutive year, team event will consist of 4-member teams. Entrants may still bowl the team event an unlimited number of times, but must change at least two members each time. This event will run for 9 weekends starting March 16 and ending on May 19, skipping March 23-24, but bowling Easter weekend (March 31). Entry forms are now available to download from this website on the Tournament tab. Entrants planning to bowl the 1st weekend (March 16-17) should be aware that St. Patrick's Day is also being celebrated that weekend, which is a huge event in Butte. Be sure to make motel reservations early.
The 2013 Women's State tournament will be conducted at Westside Lanes (Doubles/Singles) and Five Valley Center (Team) in Missoula starting April 20 and ending May 12 (4 weekends). There will be Friday night shifts available each weekend. Bowlers wishing to schedule for the final weekend (May 11-12) should obtain motel reservations extremely early, for that is also graduation weekend at the University of Montana. The MUSBC Youth State Tournament will be held in Great Falls on April 6-21, 2013 (3 weekends). Although Little's Lanes has been subjected to a flooding disaster recently, it is still expected that they will be available to host this event, in which case they would have the doubles/singles and the Elks Lanes would host the team event. A contingency plan is in place should Little's not be available.
